Renovation and upgrading homes is a worldwide trend that keeps growing!  Locally this is also true.  With so much sharing of information it becomes very easy to see the best and most aesthetically pleasing Interior Design trends.  Traditional materials are being complemented by synthetic manufacturing of cutting edge materials which are cost effective, provide a huge array of color and design choices, while displaying functionalty and simplicity for DIY projects.  

For a full scale renovation it can be daunting at first.  For the novice or first timer, it can feel overwhelming on many levels.  The sheer choice of materials, methods and price points can be confusing.  The planning stage will include a full assessment.

Look carefully at the property.  What is the architectural style?  What is your personal style as a client?  Your own vision of the finished product is crucial.  Is it contemporary, transitional or modern with traditional elements....?  Interior design is an Art Form requiring an innate and deeper understanding of the overall picture. 

Look at the area with the largest square footage.  This is usually the walls and the floor space.  Once the wall colour and flooring is selected, and installed, the rest should fall into place easily.  Or one could start with cabinetry and build everything else around that.  Your Interior Design and renovations should give you a lasting positive feeling with respect to Aesthetics and Functionality, rather than just a cookie cutter solution and quick fix!
